Volunteers of America is the charity that always steps forward to help the most vulnerable rebuild their lives.

Over 24 years ago we were approached by the Maine Sheriff’s Association and the Maine DARE Officers Association to partner in forming a camp for 5th and 6th graders.  Thus Camp POSTCARD was born.

Every year we serve 150 children from across Maine and create for them a wonderful week of fun, laughter and education.  For some of these children it is the first time they have traveled outside their county, learned to swim and fish and had such positive interaction with law enforcement.

We strive to build hope in these children and give them a chance to really be kids – running and playing and laughing and smiling.  The male and female law enforcement and corrections officers demonstrate great compassion, teach respect and model positive behaviors for these children.  It is a bond that is created that will last a lifetime.

If you have never participated in Camp POSTCARD we would encourage you to volunteer for a day or donate to send a kid to camp.  These children are our future and they flourish in this environment.

We will be celebrating our 25th year in 2018 and have launched a Camp Sustainability fund to make sure we can continue to provide camp for well in to the future.  Won’t you join me in supporting this incredible program. Click here to learn how  and watch our Camp POSTCARD movie here.

    Sincerely,  June Koegel

He loves his work. He loves the kids.

The Hollands are the kind of family you want to live next door to. When all the neighborhood kids were growing up, the Hollands would always be outside doing something fun: ice fishing in the winter, baseball in the summer.

Six or Eight kids would join them for fun in the morning, and by the afternoon when they got the grill out, there might be thirty or forty kids running around laughing and having a terrific time. >>read more .  Visit our Camp website page here

On May 5, Tim and his family donated $2000 to Camp. Read the Story here

Paige Wentworth: from Camper to Fundraiser

As a young girl, Paige was so excited about attending Camp POSTCARD she could barely wait until the 5th grade.

And after being a Camper, she couldn't wait to come back as a Counselor in Training. Now she is fundraising for Camp through the JMG program.

Here is Paige's Story, in her own words     >>read more
